Dr. Anubama Rajan
Principal Investigator
Dr. Anubama Rajan is Assistant Professor, Department of Medical Sciences and Technology at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras
Anubama has completed her Ph.D. and post-doctoral training in the Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, USA.
She pioneered the development and use of organoid technology for disease modelling, drug discovery and testing. In addition, her expertise includes infectious diseases, microbiology and virology, immunology and cell biology.
Her research interest includes using physiologically relevant patient/healthy-donor derived stem cell organoids to model human diseases, identify therapeutic targets, discover novel biomarkers and as well as validate them using the “organoid: mini-organ on a dish” system. The mission of her lab is to bridge the gap in clinical translation research by using these organoids as a surrogate for human subjects in bench-to bedside research.
She has been awarded the India Alliance Wellcome Trust Early Career Fellowship for the year 2023, which is one of the most prestigious awards in the country. Additionally, she received the Department of Biotechnology’s Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship in the year 2022.
